Dare to Mock the Night

Original poem, written to accompany the sculpture:

Dare to Mock the Night
Will we let the dissonance between
Eden renewed and the bland
expanse of dying land we call today
spin us into a free fall of questions
with no good answers because
they are the wrong questions?

Or will we dare to mock the night
and bring back from that Eden
a pocket full of seeds
a watering can that won’t run dry
and a crowbar to knock holes
in the walls and craft stained glass windows
where the light from that distant country
can come streaming in and illuminate
all the good things that were made to last?
